Bold statement: Vant are top 5 sickest bands around at this moment in time.
Here's why.
They are a band with a valid message. I have never been at a Vant gig where they haven't spoken about the political changes going on in the world and the way we can influence those changes. They are also extremely passionate about their support for Girls Against.
All of this they do while being honest about the situation; they aren't afraid to say they need the fans to help spreading their message to the rest of the world. I've heard them say multiple times that yes they do really need you to buy their music, t-shirts and gig tickets. Because they need money to make that change, to spread the message they care about so much. They need us to make that change.
Another very important reason: the are bloody gifted live performers. Because that's what they are, performers. It's not just them walking on stage, playing a few songs and then going off again. They manage to draw in the entire crowd, and take them on a journey with them when they are playing. Their energy and enthusiasm are such an influence on the atmosphere in the entire room.
Perhaps it helps that it is 11:30pm and the majority of the crowd has been getting on the beers since the start of the 3voor12 song of the year festival at 3pm. Or that about 1/3rd of people already knew each other from previous Vant gigs.
You can't just see this band live once. after the first one you'll immediately be gagging for the next one. Or in my case you'll immediately buy tickets for the next 3 gigs that are remotely in your area (read: halfway across the bloody country)... and all within two weeks...
VANT are releasing their debut album on the 17th of february, and it's available fro preorder right now from their website. If you're quick you can still get the limited edition blood splatter vinyl from stereoboutique . They are touring the uk in february/march and a little birdy told me they will be back in Europe after that.
Go check them out if you haven't already, I promise you you won't regret it.
