Following on from their debut album The Balcony, Catfish and the Bottlemen have come back with a bang after their new single 'soundcheck' was released on the 16th of February-leaving most fans either speechless, shaking or in tears. Having taken some time off with recording and writing to tour, most fans were surprised and ecstatic when they posted about their new single being released on Radio 1 on social media, and I must say after nearly 2 years without new music from this quickly burgeoning band, the new track from thier anticipated album said to be released this year does not disappoint.
Having a slightly more pop feel to this track compared to others on 'The Balcony', the extremely effortless breakdown starting at 1:58 truely captures what Catfish and the Bottlemen are about, demonstrating a hypnotic and mesmerising subdivision away from the extremely catchy chorus with lyrics "I wanted everything at once, until you blew me out my mind, now I don't need nothing". Thus creating a perfectly balanced array of aggressive lyrics from Van McCann with a punchy guitar solo performed by Johnny 'Bondy' Bond. Which overall just makes you want to scream out the lyrics preparing for the next tour (which will no doubt follow the release of album 2), or make you want to dance around your bedroom imagining you are at one of many festivals the they will be performing at this summer.
